Stadswaag Project

Project Description:
Located at the historic Stadswaag Square in Antwerp, Quares Student Housing transformed a dilapidated building on the northeast corner of the square. The project involved renovating and redeveloping the property into 32 modern apartments and studios, along with a 400 m² work-and-meeting space.

Quares’ Role:

  • Representing the owner.
  • Coordinating architectural plans and permit applications.
  • Preparing quantity surveys and specifications.
  • Supervising the construction site and project delivery.
  • Managing the budget and contracting agreements.
  • Selecting a general contractor.
  • Coordinating construction works.
  • Aligning with users on the fit-out of the work-and-meeting space.
  • Budgeting, placing orders, and following up on invoicing for the fit-out.

Results:
The project was successfully completed with the first residents moving into their new apartments in September 2019. The work-and-meeting space was finished in spring 2020 despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 lockdown. Close collaboration and coordination among all parties ensured a high-quality end result that met the expectations of all stakeholders.
